On-campus accommodation

High quality single study bedrooms in the University of Hertfordshire’s halls of residence are available to delegates. These are located close to the symposium venue on the University’s De Havilland Campus. The rooms available are in recently built halls offering the most up-to-date facilities. Each room consists of a single study bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet facilities. Each delegate will be issued with a code to allow internet access within the room (via ethernet socket). Although full catering is provided through symposium registration and room booking, each residence block does have a kitchen facility.

There are also a number of rooms suitable for the disabled or delegates with special needs, including rooms set aside for carers, or by accommodating a carer in a next door room.

The rates shown include full English breakfasts which are served in the De Havilland Refectory. A symposium reception evening meal on the evening of the 6th and a symposium banquet on the evening of the 7th are included within the symposium registration fee.

Special dietary needs can usually be catered for if notification is provided in advance.

All RO-MAN 06 delegates who book accommodation in the De Havilland halls of residence get membership of the De Havilland Sports and Social Club (DHSSC) for the duration of the symposium. DHSSC is a commercially run club, separate from the University of Hertfordshire. The facilities of the club include two bars and a snooker room.

Click here and then click on accommodation for more information about the facilities at the De Havilland Campus.

Reservation of rooms in the De Havilland Campus halls of residence is being administered by the RO-MAN 06 organisation team. These rooms must be booked at the time of symposium registration using the combined booking/registration form.

Hotels

General

The University of Hertfordshire has arrangements with several hotels and guest houses in the locality which make accommodation available at predetermined prices.

Reservation of rooms in the hotels and guest houses listed here is not being administered by the RO-MAN 06 organisation team. Delegates wishing to reserve a room should contact the hotel directly and any reservations made are ultimately arrangements between the delegate and the establishment concerned. However, delegates are advised to mention that they are attending RO-MAN 06 at the University of Hertfordshire and quote the reference "University of Hertfordshire RO-MAN 06" when discussing reservations as many establishments have offered preferential rates. Any delegates experiencing difficulty with obtaining a suitable room reservation are welcome to contact the RO-MAN 06 organisation team (email to roman06 at herts.ac.uk) for advice.
